The Department of Dermatovenereology, founded on December 9, 1928, is the leading medical, scientific and educational dermatovenereological institution in
Croatia. The first head of the Department was the world famous dermatovenereologist Academician Franjo Kogoj. Since then the Hospital Department also holds the University Department of Dematovenereology (founded in 1923) of the Zagreb School of Medicine. Today, different educational programs are performed within the Department – undergraduate and postgraduate studies of the University of Zagreb Medical School, as well as different programs of continuous education for medical doctors and other professionals in the field of dermatology and venereology.
The Editorial Office and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal Acta Dermatovenerologica Croatia (SCIE) are located at the Department as well.
Structure
Inpatient clinic
This unit is divided into 4 clinical subunits with a capacity of 61 beds.
Adults and children with different skin and venereal diseases, e.g. psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, autoimmune skin diseases, urticaria, chronic venous insufficiency, skin cancers and lymphoma, etc. are hospitalized here.
Outpatient clinic
In the outpatient unit there are 17 subunits, one centre and 3 laboratories covering different fields of dermatology and venereology:

In the Department there are seven Referral centres of the Croatian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare: for Contact Allergy; for Diagnosis of Syphilis and Lyme Disease; for Dermatologic Mycology and Parasitology; for Photodermatology; for Dermatologic Oncology, for Hereditary Bullous Epidermolysis and for Corrective Dermatology.
