Our Department provides diagnosis and treatment for ear, nose and throat problems and conditions associated with the head and neck area. Founded on 26 September 1921, it is one of the oldest departments in southeastern Europe, and since then the basic teaching facility of the Zagreb University School of Medicine. The Department underwent many qualitative changes, continuously keeping step with the developments in otorhinolaryngology. As the leading otorhinolaryngology institution it covers the whole Croatian territory for complicated pathology, and it is also visited by numerous patients from all neighbouring countries. The Department currently employs nineteen specialists most of whom are subspecialists. Scientific research at the Department is accomplished through science projects supported by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. The scientific publishing activity of the Department must also be emphasized, with more than 2500 papers published. Since 2007, the largest part of the Department (inpatient unit, operating rooms, outpatient clinic, and emergency room) is located at the newly built building in Kišpatićeva Street (at the location popularly called "Rebro").
