Our Department provides diagnosis and treatment for ear, nose and throat problems and conditions associated with the head and neck area. Founded on 26 September 1921, it is one of the oldest departments in southeastern Europe, and since than the teaching basis of Zagreb University School of Medicine. The Department underwent many qualitative changes, continuously keeping step with the developments in otorhinolaryngology. As the leading otorhinolaryngology institution it covers the whole Croatian territory for complicated pathology, and it has numerous patients from neighboring countries also. Nineteen specialists are currently working in the Department, most of which are subspecialists. Scientific research at the Department is accomplished through science projects supported by the Republic of Croatia Ministry of Science. Scientific publishing activity of the Department must also be emphasized, with the more than 2500 papers published. Since 2007, the largest part of the Department (inpatient division, operating rooms, outpatient division, and emergency room) is located at the newly built building at Kišpatićeva Street (at the location popularly called "Rebro").
