Our Department of Surgery is the leading medical, scientific and educational institution in Croatia in this field of medicine. Our long tradition as the leading general surgery institution and significant authority enables us to cover not only the Zagreb region, but the whole Croatian territory for complicated surgical pathology.
Scientific research and scientific publishing work at the Department is a very important part of our work. Our employees participate in domestic and foreign science projects, as well as in publishing scientific papers in eminent medical journals.
The Department serves as the basic teaching facility for medical students within the University of Zagreb School of Medicine undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The education of residents in general surgery and fellows in traumatology, abdominal surgery, paediatric surgery, vascular surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery is conducted in our institution as well as the continuous education for medical doctors.
One of our many objectives is to keep up with developments in general surgery for the overall benefit of our patients.
