The Echocardiography Laboratory at the Department for Cardiovascular Diseases has been operating since 1978. The purpose of Laboratory is diagnosis of acquired and congenital heart diseases. The laboratory was founded at the very beginning of the application of echocardiography in cardiac diagnostics in the world. Today it is a state-of-the-art and fully digitized echocardiographic laboratory in which all available echocardiographic methods are performed on an expert level, such as stress echocardiography, 3D and 4D echocardiography, myocardial deformity analysis, cardiac dysynchrony analysis and device optimization procedures. The laboratory is the only center in Croatia specialized in the diagnosis of congenital heart disease in adults. In the echocardiographic laboratory, about 10,000 echocardiographic examinations are performed annually for outpatients and inpatient patients. Based on its excellence and innovation, the laboratory is the leading center of echocardiography in Croatia, i.e., the national Reference Center, and is one of the reputable European echocardiographic laboratories. In accordance with the above, the laboratory conducts numerous educational activities for Croatian and foreign cardiologists.
